Dr Kerry Baker is Senior Lecturer in Criminology in the School of Law and Social Sciences and teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Her areas of interest include youth justice, probation, risk, assessment, practitioner decision-making and the role of faith-based organisations in the criminal justice system.
Her work has focused on applying theory to practice and policy development. She has previously worked as a consultant to the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales and has considerable experience of providing training for youth justice workers across the UK in assessment practice. She has also been an adviser to youth justice services in countries such as Canada, Bulgaria and Chile.
