Dr Abouzar Estebsari
Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering
School/Division:Built Environment and Architecture / Civil and Building Services Engineering
Dr. Abouzar Estebsari received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Politecnico di Torino in Italy in 2015. His thesis was on models and tools to support decision making for electricity security. He pursued his research as a post-doc research fellow in this university and worked on projects related to flexible smart metering for multiple energy vectors with active prosumers.
In 2016, he was with the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems in E.ON. Energy Research Center at RWTH-Aachen University in Germany, as a visiting scholar. His research was on geographically distributed real-time co-simulations.In 2019, he was a research scholar with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the George Washington University, Washington, D.C., USA. He did research on deep learning forecast methods and power systems resiliency.
From 2017 to 2020, Abouzar was an Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Torino, in Italy. His teaching modules included ICT for Smart Grids, distribution and utilisation of electric energy, and smart electricity systems. Abouzar is the recipient of the Manby Prize ICT/GIS/BIM 2020 of ICE in UK. He is a member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and co-author of around 60 articles in peer-reviewed journal and conference publications, with H-Index of 17. His main research interests include smart grid applications, real-time simulations, security of supply, power system analysis and demand side management.
