Information for students with disabilities

The Schools and Colleges Team aims to promote progression to Higher Education (HE) for all those groups under-represented at university, including disabled students. Disabled students include those with specific learning difficulties, e.g. dyslexia, and students with mental health conditions.

We work to ensure that all our activities are accessible to disabled students by:

  • working closely with LSBU's Disability and Dyslexia Support Team
  • offering disability awareness training to staff and student ambassadors
  • ensuring all our activities are accessible to students with disabilities or additional needs
  • running activities specifically for students with particular disabilities on request, such as taster days for deaf students, finance workshops
  • supporting the AccessAbility programme

Participating in our events

If you would like to take part in any of our activities and you have additional needs please ensure that we have all the information we need to enable you to participate fully.

If you are a teacher signing students up to events please ensure we have all the information we need to accommodate additional needs. While we will do all we can to support students with additional needs, if we do not have information in advance, such as a request for text in large print or extra support for students with specific learning difficulties, we cannot guarantee being able to provide this on the day.
