This debate will raise important issues about the criminal justice system and the state of prisons today and discuss challenging, engaging and fresh ideas about prison reform

Hear from Rob Preece, Howard League for Penal Reform, on the true cost of prisons and the reforms that could reduce re-offending rates, protect the public and improve social equality.

Following this lecture, there will be a short panel discussion with guests including:

  • Jocelyn Hillman, founder and CEO of award-winning charity Working Chance, which helps to place women with criminal convictions into jobs.
  • Professor Craig Barker, Dean of the School of Law and Social Sciences at LSBU
  • Dr Chris Magill, Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the School of Law and Social Sciences at LSBU. Dr Magill has over 12 years’ experience in conducting research in the field of crime and criminal justice.

Join us for what will be an interesting, challenging and topical debate.

There will also be a drinks reception after the event.
