Stephen Hodder of Hodder+Partners

Stephen Hodder, past RIBA President and first recipient of the Stirling Prize, will lecture on how architecture is rooted in understanding place, programme and serving humankind

The next lecture in the LSBU Open Lecture 2018 series is by Stephen Hodder MBE, the winner of the first RIBA Stirling Prize, a former President of the RIBA and an architect whose practice has now won over 40 major national awards.

Stephen Hodder is one of the foremost architects of his generation with a well-deserved reputation for creating thoughtfully conceived and beautifully crafted projects. Contexts-The Work of Hodder+Partners, a review of the achievements of Stephen's practice, has recently been published by RIBA publications.

The work of Hodder+Partners is deeply rooted in an understanding of place, of programme and indeed of serving humankind. The notion is that the architecture is founded on simply discovering these latent qualities. Stephen will illustrate this approach by reference to the work of his practice over the last 20 or so years at St. Catherine's College, Oxford, the Manchester Architects Building of the Year at St. Clare's, Oxford and current projects in London and the North West.
