In a world that is increasingly focused on wellbeing and healthy lifestyles, find out what the barriers are that prevent women from taking part in sport and how you can help to change that

As part of International Women's Week, we are pleased to welcome Dr Leeja Carter to LSBU.

Dr Leeja Carter, former college athlete, mindfulness and feminist sport psychology expert and Fulbright Scholar, from Long Island University, will share insights from her pioneering work with women in sport.

Now working in collaboration with LSBU, Dr Carter will also be talking about the lessons she has learned from the University’s drive to get more than 5000 young women involved in sports in South London.

If you are passionate about wellbeing and how we get more women involved in sports, you should be here.

The talk will be followed by a panel discussion with representatives from the local community, The Sport and Exercise Research Centre and students from LSBU’s elite sportsperson scheme. There will be a drinks reception following this event.

Dr Carter is the Assistant Professor in the Division of Athletic Training, Health and Exercise Science (ATHES) and the Director of the Center for Performance Excellence in Applied Kinesiology (PEAK) at Long Island University in New York.
