Hosted by the Risk, Resilience and Expert Decision-making (RRED) research group in association with LSBU, this event will encourage an open discussion about risk and patient safety in the NHS

The NHS is renowned throughout the world but, like all healthcare systems, it has a big problem. It can’t seem to stop harming large numbers of patients. Shaun Lintern, an investigative journalist in patient safety, will explore why this is the case and how it can be tackled.

The Risk, Resilience and Expert Decision-making (RRED) research group, led by Dr Andrew Whittaker, welcomes you to its launch event with a talk about risk and patient safety in the NHS.

Shaun Lintern is an award-winning investigative journalist specialising in news investigations related to the NHS and specifically patient safety and quality of care at the Health Service Journal. He was instrumental in helping families and patients expose poor care at the Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust hospital and campaigned for a public inquiry which reported its findings in 2013. He has been a full-time journalist for 17 years and works to highlight systemic risks in the health service.

There will also be a drinks reception after the event.
