Borough Road Gallery

Borough Road Gallery is a new gallery that opened in London South Bank University’s Borough Road building in June 2012. The gallery was financed by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to renovate part of the Borough Road building, and to devise a two-year programme of exhibitions and events that explore A David Bomberg Legacy – The Sarah Rose Collection.

Our current exhibition

Recognising Dorothy Mead: David Bomberg, the Slade, and After

26 April – 27 July 2013

This is the first exhibition devoted to a single artist from ‘A David Bomberg Legacy – The Sarah Rose Collection’. It begins to explore the range of Dorothy Mead’s artistic practice and to consider her life and influences – the most profound of which was David Bomberg, with whom she studied from 1944 to 1951.

‘Recognising Dorothy Mead’ spans three decades of work with paintings from The Sarah Rose Collection complimented by works, photographs and archival material from the Long Family Estate, the University College London Records Office, and The London Group Archive.

During exhibitions, the gallery is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm to 5pm and on Saturdays from 12pm to 5pm.  Please see the contact us page for a map.
