Summer School

The London South Bank University Year 10 Summer School 2011 will take place Monday to Friday, 4 to 8 July.  We have 160 places available this year.  The Summer School is open to all comprehensive schools in London so get your application in quickly!

The London South Bank University Year 10 Summer School is funded by LSBU, HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England) and Aimhigher. It is organised by LSBU's Widening Participation Unit and this is our 10th successful year. The week is designed to encourage and inspire participants to consider going into Higher Education.

This year our Summer School offers pupils the chance to study one of seven subjects in the morning academic sessions and a variety of activities for students to choose from in the afternoon.

Summer School is a unique opportunity to study in a university environment, talk to current university students and staff, try out a range of fun activities and meet lots of new friends.

The aim of Summer School is to offer pupils an insight into university life and the chance to try subjects they may not have thought of studying before. Instead of just giving you information about Higher Education, we ask you to experience university life for yourself so you can see if it might be the right choice for you.

As well as being informative, the week is designed to be fun and interactive. We really want you to enjoy yourself.

Students who apply for the LSBU year 10 Summer School should:

  • Be predicted to achieve 5 or more A* – C grades at GCSE
  • Have no family history of Higher Education (family studying at university level)
  • Be committed to attending the full week

One of the great things about the LSBU Summer School is that it takes place at a modern university in the centre of London. Almost all activities take place on the university campus at Elephant and Castle. It is only one minute from the Elephant and Castle tube station on the Northern and Bakerloo line and five minutes from Waterloo Station. For further directions please refer to our campus map.
