Those at scholarship standard can receive up to £3000 each year, academic flexibility, free sports science support, guaranteed halls of residence accommodation and free use of the university's sport facilities. The programme has grown significantly over the past few years with 40 elite athletes from a wide variety of sports at the university this year.

The University is seeking to develop its reputation for sporting excellence in several key sports including our current focus sports of table tennis, rugby union, taekwondo, basketball and women's football.

Sports Development

The university runs a wide range of short courses relating to fitness, coaching and sports leadership that are nationally accredited and recognised. Coaching courses are a great way to add additional skills to your CV and can be used to earn some much needed money.

The academy also coordinates a sports ambassador programme, which organises coaching placements for students in local schools and community groups. Students gain excellent experience in addition to a financial bursary and access to further discounted courses.
