Research Assessment Exercise (RAE)

The RAE is a UK wide research exercise administered on behalf of the four UK higher education funding bodies HEFCE, Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, Scottish Funding Council and the Department for Employment and Learning. The RAE assesses the quality of research that is submitted by each university which then results in the allocation of research funding over the next five years.

The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) contain excellent news about the quality of research performed by staff at LSBU.

LSBU research quality profiles, determined by independent panels of experts drawn from academia, business and the public sector, assessed that 80% of LSBU submissions to the RAE is of a quality considered to be Internationally recognised. Over 40% of our research is classed as being of International Excellence with 7% of this World Leading.
