Centre for Media and Culture Research

The Centre for Media and Culture Research supports high-quality work across the arts, media and culture

The centre supports high-quality research across several areas of the arts, media and culture. It sits as part of LSBU's Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) and has close academic links with the School of Law and Social Sciences and its Department of Education.

Current work includes projects on global memory, electronic dance cultures, and news coverage of post-Cold War conflicts. A major AHRC-funded project with Tate Britain, called Tate Encounters, is developing new understandings of museum audiences and practice-based research on artists' books, experimental film and photographic self-portraits.

LSBU emerged as a top modern university in London after 73% of its research was given the two highest ratings for 'impact' (reach and significance) - Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.
