Research staff

The London South Bank Innovation Centre (LSBIC) for the Automation of Non-destructive Testing is based in TWI Ltd Cambridge and the team there collaborates with LSBU research staff and postgraduate students to develop innovative mobile robots for non-destructive testing of safety critical infrastructure located in extreme environments. Prof. Sattar directs the affiliated centre's research.

Prof. M. Osman Tokhi

Prof. Tokhi is world authority in active control of noise and vibration and has specialist knowledge and expertise in robotics, control and systems engineering. He has authored/co-authored in excess of 750 publications, including research monographs, text books, and journal and conference research articles in these areas, and has supervised more than 55 PhD projects to successful completion.


Dr Shyamal Mondal

Shymal has a background in automated system, followed by an MSc in Real Time System. He has many years of experience in NDT research projects. His research interests are in automated NDT, control systems and mechatronics. He teaches mechatronics and control across mechanical courses.
