Our newly-opened Student Centre is a central hub for support and employment information, with an airy first floor ideal for socialising, group study or to informally meet staff. All non-academic services are here: Student Advice, Employability, Accommodation, Fees & Bursaries and Disability & Dyslexia Support. The centre is also home to our Students' Union; a base for all its social and support facilities. Adding to the comfort, the Grads Café serves a range of soft drinks and snacks and The Venue Bar opens until late. Read more about our Student Centre.

Recent developments include the purpose-built space for our Education students with specialist classrooms for ICT, maths, research, PE and dance. Our health students use a new suite of state-of-the-art skills laboratories, with life-like hospital wards and a radiography-testing suite with the latest specialised 3-D imaging.

Students carry out psychometric assessments and the computer lab has 30 PCs with a range of psychological software, stocking around 1500 test items. Our Spatial Analysis and Informatics Lab (SAIL) features Geographic Information System (GIS) software on its 30 networked computers creating an excellent platform for applied research.

Our engineering workshops feature a wide range of specialist large-scale equipment and students use the only workshops of this quality in London. Equipment highlights include the latest Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining technology and industry-standard lathes. These are regularly used by our experienced design and engineering students to produce intricate models for their practical work. Our crime scene definitely gives our criminology students something to think about, as they collect samples and evidence to help towards solving the crime.

Our students can access a number of resources to help aid their success. Our soon to open Student Life Centre will be the new home of a range of resources supporting learning ability, special needs and career progression, as well as our Students' Union (SU). Our SU also offers a number of welfare resources helping to support personal aspects of your life. Our teaching staff are renowned for their high levels of student support and this joined-up approach helps students make the most of their potential during their time with us.

Contemporary theatre

The Edric Hall is a fully-restored performance hall that has been at the heart of our university for over 100 years. Today it is a contemporary performance space with a main auditorium, a smaller performance and rehearsal studio and a third smaller space for seminars and more intimate events. All spaces are fitted with lighting and sound equipment for performance and AV teaching resources and a number of highly successful student theatrical works have been performed here for the very first time.
