Our BSc (Hons) Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture course will give you the skills you need to be a reflective acupuncture practitioner.
The programme provides an excellent grounding in the theory and application of acupuncture and tuina, as well as extensive clinical experience. You will also take modules on Chinese language and culture. Furthermore you will gain a thorough understanding of western biomedical sciences, research methodologies, and the skills to be a reflective and professional practitioner.
Elements of Chinese medicine, language and culture modules are taught by experienced lecturers from China. You will benefit from this wealth of clinical experience and extensive knowledge of the various traditions and historical developments in Chinese medicine. You will also learn from practitioners based in the UK to gain a more complete picture and understanding of the skills required to be a professional acupuncturist in the West.
This course is supported by the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Confucius Institute provides a number of excellent opportunities for students including scholarships for further study in Chinese medicine and language in China.
To meet many students' needs for flexibility the course is delivered primarily at the weekend and there is a part time route.

“I originally come from Germany and was searching for opportunities abroad where I could study acupuncture. LSBU had the perfect degree and a reputation to match.
Studying at LSBU is an absolute delight for me. We are a small class, which makes the quality of teaching very high as we receive more personalised attention.
The best thing about the course is that we have teachers both from China and the UK, who teach us Chinese language and culture, so we understand the history and roots behind acupuncture. We also have the opportunity to go to China for a placement in our third year.”
