Celebrating Excellence and Innovative Teaching Practice

An NTFS fellowship is a prestigious award that carries recognition both within the university and in the broader academic community. Each year 50 personal awards of £10,000 are made. The criteria for judging claims from individual applicants focus on personal excellence in enhancing the student experience, and evidence of influencing colleagues' teaching practice. An award winner may use the money to further their personal development, it does not have to be used for a research project.

London South Bank University has two NTFS fellows: Gloria Gordon from BCIM (2002) and Sue Starkings from CLSD (2006).

LSBU is able to put forward 3 institutional nominees for the national competition each year. The LTEU assists people in framing claims for consideration by the institutional selection panel, in the first instance. Successful nominees are supported in constructing their final claims.

In addition to the individual strand of awards, there is also an institutional project strand for which submissions are invited each year in Autumn. Each institution which has an NTFS fellow is invited to bid for funds: project teams are drawn from interested parties, and must include an NTFS fellow.

For more information about the Scheme, you can visit the HE Academy website (http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/NTFS.htm).

Individuals who wish to be considered for an institutional nomination for the next round of awards are invited to contact Tom Hall (tom.hall@lsbu.ac.uk) or Ruth Brown (brownrh@lsbu.ac.uk) from the LTEU.
