Welcome to LSBU Libraries

LSBU has 2 library buildings - the Perry Library (Southwark Campus) and Havering Campus Library.

All current LSBU students and staff are members of the library - you'll need your LSBU identity card to get in and borrow items. If you forget it you'll need to apply at our reception desk (Southwark Campus) or at Faculty Reception (Havering Campus - weekdays only) for a 'day pass'.

You can print by putting money on your student ID card - ask at a Helpdesk if you need assistance ; use the automated credit terminals; or credit your account online via the link on our home page. Once you have credited your card then log on to a PC, send your work to either Black/White or Colour printer and swipe your ID card at the print terminal to print your document.

At Perry Library we have A3/A4 Black/White photocopiers on all book floors, and a Colour copier on Level 2 East.
Havering Library has A3/A4 Black/White copiers only.

Perry Library also has a large scale copier for plans and maps (on Level 2 East).

You'll need to buy a photocopy 'flexicard' to use the copiers. These are available in each of the libraries and can be 'charged' with credit at crediting terminals in each library.

Are there fines?

If you don't return or renew items by the date they are due you will incur fines. 2 week, 4 week and 1 week items incur fines at a rate of 10p per item per day for the first 7 open days overdue and then 50p per item/day after that until £10 per item is exceeded (max. fine on an item is £10.20 each time it is overdue). 24 hour items and Key Text items incur much heavier fines - 50 per hour or part-hour once they are overdue to a maximum of £10 per item.

At Perry Library: Once you have a charge of more than £10 on your library record you won't be able to borrow any new items until you have reduced it..

Please note - Returning students each September will be required to clear any outstanding fines from the previous academic year before borrowing new items

At Havering Library: ALL fines must be cleared before borrowing new items

What if I lose items I have borrowed?
If you lose an item please let us know as soon as possible - you will need to pay a replacement cost. If you lose your ID card please let the Security Office (Southwark - London Rd Building) or Faculty Reception (Havering) know. Please also let the library know so we can block unauthorised use of your card.

Can I renew my items?

You can renew online here. You'll need to use your LSBU username / password.

You will be able to renew main collection items provided they have not been put on hold by another user. If they have you'll have to return them by the original due date to avoid fines.

Please check carefully when you renew items to see that they have all been renewed - if an item is on hold for another user then its due date will not change and it must be returned by that date.

PLEASE NOTE - If you have fines of over £10 on your library account then you will NOT be able to renew online. You will need to contact library staff directly to renew items.

If you have overdue items on your record which cannot be renewed then always contact us as soon as possible - the longer you leave it the larger your fines will become.

Can I reserve an item which is out on loan?

If all copies of an item are on loan you can place a copy 'on hold' via the library catalogue. When a copy is available we will reserve it for you at the library helpdesk at the campus you choose and send you an e-mail to let you know. Items are held for you for 7 open days (except loans of HV items to Perry Library which are held for 5 open days).

What if I need Help Finding Information or Using the Library?

If you need help finding books, using electronic databases or have other information queries relating to your course then you can contact us in various ways.
