Extra time on your Book Loans |
2 week loan books are issued and renewed for an extra week (3 weeks instead of 2) - this will be arranged when you register with Disability & Dyslexia Support. You can also renew your books online here. |
We can photocopy items (journal articles/book chapters) and send them to you (subject to availability and copyright). To request this service - fill in this form click here. Reference Card for a helper |
We can give you a reference card for a helper to allow them to accompany you if you need assistance on your visits to the library. You can also nominate another person to pick up and return items for you - they will need a signed/dated letter giving them permission to use your library ID card and they will need to bring your ID card and proof of their identity. |

Alternatively, if you give us notice then we can make a member of library staff available to accompany/guide you in using the library. |
3 East Study Rooms |
Once you have registered with Disability & Dyslexia Support (DDS) they can also arrange to have your university ID card programmed so that you can gain access to the 2 study rooms on Level 3 East of the library. These are private rooms (bookable for a max 3 hours at a time via a booking sheet on the room doors) where you can study in peace. Equipment available – a PC; a height adjustable desk and chair; a scanner; Coomber tape recorder The PCs in the room also have various software packages to help you with your studies – please contact the Disability and Dyslexia team for more details. Zoomtext - a text magnifying program. It can also read out text via the PC's speakers Text Help - can also read out text from documents and web pages and can help with spell checking and correcting mistakes Inspiration - visual planning and mind mapping program Dragon Naturally Speaking - dictation software which types when you talk. You will need to book headphones/microphone through the DDS office in advance, or bring your own with you. In addition on Level 2 East of the library there is a desk with a computer and a high resolution camera (stand- mounted). This allows you to capture text and pictures in paper documents, which can then be converted into electronic documents. These can be enlarged/read with electronic screen readers.
