Anatomy TV [electronic resource].
Interactive 3D model of human anatomy.

Core Bibliographic E-resources

CINAHL [electronic resource].
Cinahl indexes over 1600 nursing and allied health journals, and has an international coverage. It is updated weekly. This is the best database to use for an in-depth search, although we do not have access to all the journals covered.

Technical Indexes: Construction Information Service (IHS) [electronic resource].
Complete documents from over 150 issuing bodies essential to the design and construction of buildings, including legal data, setting out, structural tolerances and product information. Includes:
LANTAC (Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation). Local authority building control information and approval certificates.
OHSIS (Occupational Health & Safety Information Service). A full text collection of key United Kingdom health and safety, fire safety and environmental health guidance material. Includes legislation, standards, etc. Updated monthly.
Specify-It Building. A database of building products and manufacturers, searchable by product, trade name or company name.

Background Bibliographic E-resources

British Nursing Index (BNI) [electronic resource].
Provides references to journal articles, some conference papers and major reports on aspects of education and training, from the UK and some English language international titles. Starts in 1976 and covers all levels and ages.

Medline - via EBSCO [electronic resource].
The US National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database of over 16 million references from more than 5,000 biomedical journals published in the United States and 80 other countries. Subject coverage is from the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences, and is worldwide, but most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts. Records date from the 1950's onwards, many include abstracts. The database includes links to some full text articles, but this is not a full text database.

RefWorks [electronic resource].
RefWorks is an online research management, writing and collaboration tool designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies.

Westlaw [electronic resource].
Access to the full text of cases and legislation for UK materials, some EU and International documentation plus considerable US resources. It incorporates the Legal Journals Index and the Case and Legislation Citators.

E-Books

Books@Ovid [electronic resource].
Books@Ovid platform with Made Incredibly Easy! which contains 38 e-books titles and Oxford Handbooks which contains 10 e-book titles.

Academic OneFile is the premier source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources. With extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects, Academic OneFile is both authoritative and comprehensive. With millions of articles available in both PDF and HTML full-text with no restrictions, researchers are able to find accurate information quickly. Includes full-text coverage of the New York Times back to 1995. Updated daily.

ProQuest Newspapers, Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, Guardian, Independent, Times [electronic resource].
Updated daily. Database of the Daily Mail & Mail on Sunday; Daily Telegraph & Sunday Telegraph; Evening Standard; Financial Times; Guardian & Observer; Times and Sunday Times; Independent. Coverage is from at least January 1998 onwards for all titles.

ScienceDirect (Science Direct) [electronic resource].
Database containing over 1000 full text journals from Elsevier Science and the leading scientific, technical and medical publishers. Covers life, physical, technical and social sciences.

The website of this professional society gives access to many of the papers which they publish on the subject.

Centre for Workplace Health

The Centre for Workplace Health was established formally on 12 September 2005, with an official launch in November 2005.  The Centre hosts the largest group of occupational health specialists in the UK delivering high quality research, training and occupational health services.

European Agency for Safety and Health at Work
The Agency is the European Union organisation responsible for occupational safety and health information. Together with its own online information products and services the Agency also brings together safety and health information from other European Union sources including the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council, the Economic and Social Committee and the European Social Partners.

European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions
The Foundation was set up to provide information, advice and expertise – on living and working conditions, industrial relations and managing change in Europe – for key actors in the field of EU social policy on the basis of comparative information, research and analysis.

maintaining standards and providing impartial, authoritative guidance on health and safety issues.

MBHS are private sector health and safety consultants. The site contains useful summaries of health and safety issues (under "Health and Safety Info" with links to free publications.

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (USA)
The home page of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (USA). Details of services, publications, selected topics of research, etc. Comprehensive access to other websites.

Occupational Safety and Health Resources Net
Not for profit network of professional occupational safety and health resources to assist safety/health professionals or others interested in these issues.

Office of Public Sector Information

The Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) has grown out of Her Majesty’s Stationery Office (HMSO).  OPSI provides online access to UK legislation, license the re-use of Crown copyright material, manage the Information Fair Trader Scheme, maintain the Government’s Information Asset Register and provide advice and guidance on official publishing and Crown copyright.

Offshore Engineering Information Service (OEIS)

This is a free service provided by Herriot-Watt University. It contains a searchable database of publications to do with Petroleum and Marine technology, including health and safety aspects.

Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents
RoSPA is actively involved in the promotion of safety and the prevention of accidents in all areas of life - at work, in the home, and on the roads, in schools, at leisure and on (or near) water.    The site provides information on occupational safety, home safety, road safety, safety education and water and leisure safety: statistics, articles, news, etc.

Workplace Law Network

This site specialises in employment law, health and safety and premises management. It is a membership site, so much information is only available to members.
