3D made easy [electronic resource].
3D made easy provides online tutorials to support learning and teaching of 3D modelling. Supporting up to six different software packages: Autodesk inventor, Revit architecture, AutoCAD, 3D studio max, SketchBook pro, and Google SketchUp.

British Standards Online BSOL [electronic resource].
Database contains all current British Standards in full text. EN and ISO standards if adopted by British Standards appear in full text.

BCIS Online [electronic resource].
Elemental analyses allow a user to forecast the cost of a building using actual not synthesised prices, also includes a full range of building tender, cost and output indices and average building prices.

Boreholes Index [electronic resource].
The BGS British onshore borehole collections contain approximately 15 000 boreholes, most of which are stored at Keyworth.

Construction and Building Abstracts [electronic resource].
Brief abstracts from international journals and technical information in the areas of construction, architecture, civil engineering and planning.

Construction Website [electronic resource].
Includes:

  • hundreds of pages of text on all aspects of domestic building construction

Digimap [electronic resource].
Digimap allows users to view and print contemporary and current Ordnance Survey maps of any location in Great Britain at a series of predefined scales.

ICE Virtual Library [electronic resource].
The ICE's Virtual Library gives access to the largest repository of full text civil engineering papers in the world. ICE's archive of technical papers from 1836 to the present day.

RICS Library Direct [electronic resource].
This is an online version of the RICS Library's key information source Abstracts and Reviews. It provides an index and abstracts to over 50,000 items held in the RICS Library.

ISurv [electronic resource].
ISurv is the definitive knowledge base for property professionals and includes the RICS Red Book.

Technical Indexes: Construction Information Service (IHS) [electronic resource].
Complete documents from over 150 issuing bodies essential to the design and construction of buildings, including legal data, setting out, structural tolerances and product information. Includes:
LANTAC (Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation). Local authority building control information and approval certificates.
OHSIS (Occupational Health & Safety Information Service). A full text collection of key United Kingdom health and safety, fire safety and environmental health guidance material. Includes legislation, standards, etc. Updated monthly.
Specify-It Building. A database of building products and manufacturers, searchable by product, trade name or company name.

Background E-resources

Index to Theses [electronic resource].
Covers from 1970 onwards. Information on theses accepted for higher degrees by the Universities of Great Britain and Ireland. Information given includes title, date, type of award, University and usually, an abstract.

RefWorks [electronic resource].
RefWorks is an online research management, writing and collaboration tool designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies.

ScienceDirect (Science Direct) [electronic resource].
Database containing over 1000 full text journals from Elsevier Science and the leading scientific, technical and medical publishers. Covers life, physical, technical and social sciences.

Westlaw [electronic resource].
Access to the full text of cases and legislation for UK materials, some EU and International documentation plus considerable US resources. It incorporates the Legal Journals Index and the Case and Legislation Citators.

MyiLibrary [electronic resource].
MyiLibrary provides a faster and easier way to access collections of books, reports, journals, bulletins and other documents published by inter-governmental organisations such as the World Bank, United Nations and International Labour Organisation.

With millions of articles available in both PDF and HTML full-text with no restrictions, researchers are able to find accurate information quickly. Business Source Premier [electronic resource].
Via EBSCOhost databases. Provides full-text for approximately 2,300 scholarly business journals covering management, economics, finance, accounting, international business and marketing. Includes Dun & Bradstreet company information.

Emerald [electronic resource].
Access to management research journals from MCB University Press. The service provides access to over 20,000 management articles, with a full text archive going back to 1994.

ProQuest Newspapers, Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, Guardian, Independent, Times [electronic resource].
Updated daily. Database of the Daily Mail & Mail on Sunday; Daily Telegraph & Sunday Telegraph; Evening Standard; Financial Times; Guardian & Observer; Times and Sunday Times; Independent. Coverage is from at least January 1998 onwards for all titles.

Ordnance Survey
Britain's national mapping agency, including new maps and publications and detailed technical information. Small-scale maps may be downloaded and there are links to other national mapping organisations.

Describes itself as the partywall resource site, includes a discussion forum and relevant legal case summaries for the last hundered years.

This offers itself as your internet guide to Geographic Information Systems. GIS is explained, there is an opportunity to try it & there are links to software, some free.

John Rocque's Map of London – 1746
John Rocque's map of London was published in the form of 24 sheets at a scale of 26 inches to the mile.

Map of John Snow’s London in 1859
There are two indices for the map, one presenting historical sites & reference areas relevant to Dr. John Snow & the other showing historical sites for London. Also presented are links to Greenwood's Map of London, 1827, to Charles Booth's 1889 Descriptive Map of London & to the current UK Street Map.

Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection (University of Texas at Austin)
Maps are searchable by continent, then country, and were mostly produced by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. There are also historical maps, and links to maps on other web sites, by city and region, as well as country.
