The Local Economy Policy Unit (Lepu) was founded by the late Professor Sam Aaronovitch in 1983. Under his leadership the Unit built its reputation on its popular seminars, its research and its publications. Lepu’s journal, Local Economy, has been incirculation for over quarter of a century and has a fast-expanding world-wide readership.
Lepu
provides one of the means by which London
South Bank University
can achieve its aim of contributing to the development and regeneration
of the London region. Lepu also connects with research, practice and
policy in economic development from around the world. Lepu has participated in the OECD Local Economic and Employment Development Programme (LEED), has links with the European Association of Development Agencies (EURADA) and also has strong networks across North America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
