Assistive Technology Room (ATR)

The Assistive Technology Room (ATR) is on the third floor (south) of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), and is managed by LRC staff.

The ATR is only for students who are registered with Disability and Dyslexia Support (DDS). If your card does not allow you access to the room please go to the Security Office in the London Road building to update it. They will confirm with us that you are registered to use the room.

Whilst this is not a completely silent study room, please respect other users by not using mobile phones or having loud conversations. Some students may need to discuss aspects of their work with a support worker. For more information about the equipment and software available please see the ATR page on the LRC website.

Please do not ask people to let you in and please do not allow other people into the room if their card "does not work". DDS and LRC staff will be carrying out spot check audits and if the recent misuse of the room continues we may have to review its use.

ATR Closures for Exams (throughout the year)

The ATR is also used for additional needs exams. Faculties book it out during exam periods so that students who need to use the assistive software (which is loaded on the ATR machines) have their additional needs met.

We are sure that you understand that we have a duty to meet these needs and at present this is the best way for us to do that.

Please check the sign on the door on a regular basis, or contact the LRC Help Desk on 020 7815 6678 or 6679 or by email: helpdesk@lsbu.ac.uk to ask for up to date closing details.
