Uganda

If you're thinking of studying with us at London South Bank University (LSBU), our entry requirements, scholarships and details of how to apply are laid out below to help you with your application.

Entry requirements

We accept a range of English language qualifications (PDF File 201 KB). Please contact the international office for further details.

Foundation course requirements

To apply for an undergraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:

  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with low pass grades at Principle Level
  • East African Advanced Certificate of Education with low pass grades at Principle Level
  • IELTS 4.5/Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) English grades 1-6/Cambridge Overseas Certificate English grades 1-6/ East African Certificate of Education English grades 1-6

Undergraduate course requirements

To apply for an undergraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:

  • a suitable UK Foundation Course (60% minimum)
  • International Baccalaureate, 24 Points
  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE): Principle Level. Depends on LSBU course (acceptable credit pass grades are: 1 -6)
  • East African Advanced Certificate of Education. depends on LSBU course (acceptable credit pass grades are: 1 -6)
  • Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate, depends on LSBU course (acceptable grades: A-F )
  • National Diploma *Sometimes called 'Ordinary Diploma' Credit pass required depending on course applied for… (In a suitable subject)
  • Higher National Diploma sometimes called 'Higher Diploma' awarded by technical college or Uganda polytechnic, lower credit or upper credit required
  • IELTS 6.0 or equivalent or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) English grades 1-6 or Cambridge Overseas Certificate English grades 1-6 or East African Certificate of Education English grades 1-6

Year two: undergraduate entry

  • HND, lower or upper credit depending on course applied for
  • completed Year one & two (Level 100 and Level 200) of a relevant Ugandan bachelor degree, Student should have GPA at 2.2 level or above with modules matching/covering year one and two of LSBU degree

Postgraduate course requirements

To apply for a postgraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:

  • Bachelor Degree. Grade required: Honours Lower (or GPA of 2.7). You may need a 2.1 grade for some courses
  • Taught Masters Entry: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

How to apply

The process to apply for a course varies to whether you study as an undergraduate or postgraduate student. You should also find out how to apply for any available scholarships.

Visa information

As a Ugandan national you will need to obtain a student visa or equivalent to be able to study with us at LSBU. The main route for students to come to the UK to study is the Tier 4 General student visa. We have information about visas and immigration on our website and guidance on the requirements. It is also important to refer to the information and Tier 4 Policy Guidance which is available on the Home Office website. You should also check the visa processing times if you are applying from Uganda.
