If you're thinking of studying with us at LSBU, our entry requirements, details of scholarships and how to apply are laid out below to help you with your application.
Entry requirements
Please note the entry requirements below are general guidelines and each application will be assessed on individual merit. Alternative qualifications may be accepted. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact us at global@lsbu.ac.uk.
If your first language is not English then you may be required to hold a recognised English language qualification. To check you have the correct qualifications download information on our English Language Requirements (PDF File 32 KB) (PDF File 86 KB).
Foundation course requirements
To apply for our International Undergraduate Foundation Programme (UFP) at LSBU you need to have one of the following:
- Completion of Senior Secondary School Year 3 with 60% average / Completion of Senior Secondary School Year 2 with 70% average
- Minimum English language requirements are as follows: IELTS 4.5 or equivalent, with no single element less than 4.0

Undergraduate course requirements
To apply for an undergraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:
- Senior High School Graduation Certificate with a minimum of 70-80% (course-specific requirements may apply)
- Chinese University / College Entrance Examination ('Gaokao') with a minimum of 350-400 in relevant subjects
- Vocational College Diploma ('Gaozhi') diploma with average marks of 70% minimum
- suitable UK Foundation course with a minimum of 60%
- minimum English language requirements are as follows: IELTS 6.0 with all skills at 5.5 or above
To apply for our undergraduate top-up programmes at LSBU you need to have one of the following:
- three-year HND (SQA) with a minimum of B
- three-year undergraduate graduation certificate ('Zhuanke' or 'Dazhuan' level)
- undergraduate graduation certificate awarded without Honours / assessed dissertation
- minimum English language requirements are as follows: IELTS 6.0 with all skills at 5.5 or above

Postgraduate course requirements
To apply for a postgraduate taught course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:
- three-year Bachelor Degree from a UK institution
- four-year Bachelor Degree from a Chinese university with good grades
- Postgraduate Diploma from a UK institution with a minimum of 50%
- minimum English language requirements are as follows: IELTS 6.5 with all skills at 5.5 or above

LSBU is a fully diversified university with students and academics from all over the world. I chose LSBU in particular because its modules are very career focused and job directed, which was very helpful for my career options after graduation (I now work as an Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers). And of course its location – central London is fantastic!

How to apply
The process to apply for a course varies to whether you study as an undergraduate or postgraduate student. You should also find out how to apply for any available scholarships.
Scholarships
We currently offer a wide variety of scholarships with a total value of £1 million. Read more about LSBU scholarships for international students.

Visa information
As a Chinese national you will need to obtain a student visa or equivalent to be able to study with us at LSBU. The main route for students to come to the UK to study is the General student visa. It is also important to refer to the information and student visa Policy Guidance which is available on the Home Office website. You should also check the visa processing times if you are applying from China.
