Visiting students

If you are an EU student and wish to spend up to one year with us at London South Bank University (LSBU) you can apply to be a visiting student. At LSBU we offer a programme for visiting students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Undergraduate Visiting Student Programme

(on fee-paying basis) at London South Bank University

This scheme is usually chosen by students who wish to spend a period of undergraduate study in London. At the end of their studies, they receive transcripts of marks obtained in the subjects of their choice, but not an award / qualification.

Conditions

You need to meet all our conditions to join us as a visiting student.

  • Successful completion of a minimum of one year of university education in your home country.
  • Availability to spend a minimum of one semester at London South Bank University, starting either September to finish January, or starting February to finish June. View our academic calendar for more details.
  • Determination to complete coursework and take exams as stipulated by the university regulations.

How to apply

  1. Fill in the application form and attach copies of your transcripts of studies (university level only) and any language certificate (TOEFL,IELTS,etc.). Download the application form as a PDF file (PDF 141 KB, opens in new window). This application form has to be filled in by hand and posted to the International Office.
  2. Alternatively, you can download the Word version of the application form (Word 191KB, opens in new window), fill it in electronically and return it by email to eustudent@lsbu.ac.uk. Please, don't forget to email scanned documents of your transcripts and English certificate at the same time.
  3. Contact the Course Director(s) in charge of subject areas you're interest in, and check whether they would allow you to take a selection of units to be subsequently validated by your university in your home country. In the "Personal Statement" section, specify who you have discussed the arrangements with (the Course Director), and whether units to be taken were agreed.
  4. Once we have received the application form, we will contact you and within four weeks we will let you know if you have been successful.

Application Deadline

  • For whole year students and semester one students, 1 June
  • For semester two students, 1 November

Current Tuition Fees for EU Study Abroad (undergraduate)

The latest information on fees for International and EU students is available on the LSBU Fees and funding website. Tuition Fees normally cover:

  • a maximum of four units per semester, usually timetabled in at about 12 hours a week (on average three hours per unit) for full-time students
  • an opportunity to attend two extra hours of English language classes per week
  • access to all university facilities (e.g. free internet access), with possible extra charges (e.g. sports membership).

Prospective Visiting Students are able to choose from a wide range of subject areas. Faculty of Business (BUS)

  • BUS offers the possibility of studying at three levels of study, depending on your background and level of English.

Faculty of Engineering, Science and the Built Environment (ESBE)

  • ESBE offers the possibility of joining a programme at any of three levels of study.

Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences (AHS)

  • Please note that AHS only offers programmes of study at level 2.

Additional Information

If you are in the final year of a university degree in your home country you may be able to apply for direct entry to the final year of a very similar degree at LSBU with the view to receiving a Bachelor's degree after one year of study in London.

Applications for direct entry are processed through UCAS, the UK universities central admissions system. Application forms can be found at UCAS or by calling: (+) 44 1242 227 799. You will need to apply for level three entry. EU students can apply for a tuition fee loan via Student Finance England.

If you have already completed a university degree in your home country, you may wish to consider applying for postgraduate studies at LSBU, with a view to receiving a Masters degree. Masters degrees are normally completed in one year. Tuition fees start at £5,400 per year for EU students, and start at £10,000 for International students.

Postgraduate Visiting Student Programme

(on fee-paying basis) at London South Bank University

This scheme is designed for students who wish to spend one or two semesters of postgraduate study in the Faculty of Business. Students have the opportunity to improve their English whilst studying Business and Management subjects. At the end of your studies you will receive a transcript of marks.

We offer you a flexible programme of postgraduate studies within a fully international environment and the possibility of obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma. You can choose from a wide range of subjects:

  • International Business
  • International Finance
  • International management
  • International Marketing
  • International Human Resources
  • Information Systems Management

  • Fluency in English, ie you need to have obtained IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL: Print 580, Computer Based 237, Internet Based 90 or equivalent.
