Entry Requirements

Please note the entry requirements below are general guidelines and each application will be assessed on individual merit. Alternative qualifications may be accepted. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact us at internat@lsbu.ac.uk.

Foundation course requirements

To apply for a foundation course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:

  • West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) requiring C6 or above in at least 5-6 subjects (including: English Language and Maths)
  • Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC), Grades A-C or 1-6
  • GCE O’ Level
  • English language requirements are as follows: IELTS 4.5 / TOEFL 475 (paper based); 153 (computer based); 49 (internet based)

Undergraduate course requirements

To apply for an undergraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:

  • a suitable UK Foundation Course (60% minimum)
  • International Baccalaureate
  • A Level (Cambridge Overseas)
  • Higher National Diploma
  • English requirements: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL: 550 (paper based); 213 (computer based); 80 (internet based) or KCSE English grade C

YEAR two: Undergraduate Entry

  • HND from a recognised Institution in Sierra Leone with Lower or Upper Credit depending on course applied for
  • completed Year one and two (Level 100 and Level 200) of a relevant Bachelor Degree.

Postgraduate course requirements

To apply for a postgraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:

  • Bachelor Degree Honours (four years) at a suitable level
  • Bachelor Degree General (three years) minimum 2.1 and relevant work experience
  • English Language requirements: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL: 580 (paper based); 237 (computer based); 90 (internet based) or WASSC (WAEC) English Language C6

Please note: three years of managerial experience is required for the MBA.

Visa Information

As a Sierra Leone national you will need to obtain a student visa or equivalent to be able to study with us at LSBU. On 31 March 2009 the UK Border Agency launched the new Points Based immigration route for students seeking initial entry clearance to the UK.

Please note that the Tier 4 category of the points bases system is still under development and that requirements are subject to change at short notice. You should always consult the latest Tier 4 policy guidance at www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk before making an application for Tier 4 entry clearance.
