Institute for Leadership and Service Improvement

Established in 2007, the Institute for Leadership and Service Improvement (ILSI) exists to develop and deliver postgraduate education programmes and research linked to leadership, service improvement and practice innovation in healthcare. It also has a key role in building the Faculty's capacity to undertake high quality research through the development of effective training and other skill- building initiatives.

We strive to acheive excellence in all our areas of work and to maintain relevance through the building of effective partnerships with colleagues internally, (both within our home Faculty and beyond) and externally, with key stakeholders including health providers and commissioners. Above all, we aim to enhance the reputation of both the Faculty and the University through the development and delivery of high quality research and education products, recognising and delivering added value wherever possible.

This section provides information about ILSI's research activities. Our section about departments provides further information about ILSI's role as a department .

Research strategy

The Faculty research strategy locates all of our research within three themes:

  • Promoting health and well being for all
  • Achieving service and clinical excellence
  • Learning and teaching; excellence in knowledge translation

Within these themes, research in the Institute covers a wide range of health service areas, from mental health to Gastoenterology. We have particular strength in service user engagement and service evaluation.
