Our specialist departments are the backbone of the Faculty of Health and Social Care. They enhance interprofessional education, practice development and research by providing a comprehensive portfolio of courses and continuing professional development programmes. All of our provision is carefully designed to fit with needs of the workplace and to ensure a smooth transition from the lecture room to employment.

The Faculty is made up of five departments and two institutes
We are well positioned to influence professional developments and demands by appointing key staff to positions in statutory and government bodies. This enables us to engage actively in market analysis and policy trends and to influence programme and course developments by anticipating external stakeholder needs and changing workforce role developments.
At LSBU our staff are deeply committed to supporting students throughout their learning experience and are considered leaders in their various fields. They progress the evidence-based work of their discipline and support courses that are underpinned by a robust culture of research.
Our departments protect the quality of our student learning experience and offer excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning. We see our students and their employers as active partners in negotiating study pathways that effectively meet personal and career needs. This also enhances the standard of care that clients and patients receive.
