At registration, on completing the programme, students will be prepared to provide high quality maternity care that contributes significantly to the holistic health of women and their families.

We can help you start or progress in your career as a nurse or midwife. Register your interest and find out about our open days.
We are here also to provide educational courses and programmes for qualified nurses and midwives who want to take further programmes of study to gain them both professional and academic recognition.
As a department we have a very close working relationship with NHS Trusts both in the acute and community sectors. This ensures that the University provides a contemporary education that is strongly supported by clinical experts and meets the needs of nursing today.
We offer flexible blended learning via APL. We are also committed to work based and self-directed learning which is a very popular feature of our post registration provision. Post registration units and programmes can also be achieved from part-time study and they are thoroughly underpinned by clinical practice competencies.
Our midwifery curriculum sharpens the focus on evidence-based practice whilst integrating clinical skills within theory components. Students are taught by an experienced team of midwifery lecturers and lecturer practitioners in a stimulating learning environment and are led by Judith Nabb, Head of Midwifery Education.
We ensure all our students develop relevant clinical expertise by ensuring our education provision incorporates realistic ward, community, home and emergency simulations in highly-equipped skills laboratories. Offering lifelike simulations in a safe environment creates a learning experience that inspires confidence and skill when real life situations present themselves in clinical areas.
Another vital part of the teaching process is the clinical placements we offer in some of London's top hospitals. This gives our students the opportunity to build their expertise, developing vital skills supported by clinicians who support the growth of students from novice to expert. Our partner NHS Trusts further benefit by becoming the future employers of many of our graduating students.
Our post registration programmes are offered at Degree and Masters level of study. Our continuing professional development provision is regularly reviewed and is responsive to the changing needs of care providers. More recently bespoke education programmes provided in the Trust environment have been extremely popular.
