The Faculty of Health and Social Care understands that not everyone takes a classic route through education and so other opportunities are needed to fulfil individuals' potential. Working in partnership with London NHS Trusts, the Institute of Vocational Learning can offer a range of programmes for staff working in Agenda for Change Bands 1-4. These programmes span from level two and three, with students achieveing a Diploma in Health an Social Care, for instance, through to programmes at level four and five where students complete a Foundation degree. We realise that unqualified staff do not always want to commit to one or two year programmes of study and may prefer to attend single study days to update and improve their practice as part of their continuing personal and professional development. We also offer a range of these activities, on both University campuses and on Trust premises.
The lecturers working within the Institute are are keenly aware of the various educational needs of staff working in unqualified posts and can offer supportive learning environments for one day workshops of one or two year courses leading to nationally recognised qualifications. The lecturers can offer one-to-one support to students to help them achieve their goals. Many of our past students have achieved significant success, moving onto degree programmes which give professional registration.
