Teacher training students

London South Bank University charges £3,225 for the full-time, one-year teacher training programme (Postgraduate Certificate of Education). In addition to the standard range of grants, bursaries and financial incentives available to teacher training students, the LSBU Annual Bursary will provide you with significant financial benefits.

Home students are eligible to apply for a student loan to cover the full costs of their tuition fees of £3,225. For further information, visit our section on help towards tuition fees for Home full-time students.

Students classified as EU are able to receive the same assistance with tuition fees as Home students.

Home students starting full-time PGCE courses (studying for 10 weeks or more) from September 2009 will be eligible for a means-tested, non-repayable £2,906 maintenance grant. The first £1,106 of the grant will not be means-tested (in other words, you are eligible for a minimum £1,106 grant no matter what your household income is). The remaining £1,800 is dependent on your household income.

All Home and EU students starting a PGCE course in September 2009 are eligible to receive a training bursary. The bursary ranges from £4,000-£9,000. The amount of the bursary depends upon the age-range and subject in which you are being trained.

Full details of the financial support available to PGCE students, the routes to teacher training and how to apply for financial support are available at the Training and Development Agency for Schools website.
