
Different payment dates and arrangements apply depending on which type of student you are.

If you are a Home or EU student, applications for maintenance, tuition fee loans and other support should be made online to Student Finance England. If you are an EU student you can get further advice from the Student Finanace Services European Team. The support you are entitled to will differ depending on whether you are eligible for the new or old package of student support. You will be sent a Financial Notification setting out your entitlements.
You will be given the option to take out a loan for your tuition fees. You must tell Student Finance England as part of your application form how much Tuition Fee Loan you wish to borrow. Any amount you do not borrow is payable at your published enrolment session.
Some courses contain compulsory field trips. The cost of these is payable at enrolment in addition to your tuition fees. These extra costs cannot be covered by The Student Loans Company, either by Tuition Fee Grant or Loan.

Means-testing will be carried out based on your income or that of your family, to determine how much help towards the tuition fee you are entitled to receive. This is known as the Grant for Tuition Fees.

The exam board decision for some students may allow you to pass to the next level with outstanding units at the previous level. Please note, that in this case, Student Finance England will only consider your next level studies for funding. Fees for any repeated units (from the previous level) will need to be paid directly to the University in full by the published re-enrolment dates.

You will be asked to make payment of any amount shown in '4' plus any other fees that your course may attract (i.e, compulsory field trip fees) at your enrolment session or by the deadlines for re-enrolment. Tuition Fee Support does not cover field trip costs.
Some new students may not have received their Financial Notification at the time of enrolment. If this applies to you the University will ask you to confirm how much tuition fee loan you have applied for (or intend to apply for). Any amount you do not borrow will be payable at enrolment.
You will remain personally responsible for payment of fees and charges, even if there is an arrangement for the University to receive payment on your behalf from the Students Loans Company.
You may be eligible for an income assessed, non-repayable Part Time Fee Grant and Course Grant to help with the costs of your tuition fees and other course costs, such as books and traveling expenses. The amount you are awarded will depend on both your household income and the intensity of your course. Even if you are granted the maximum level of Part-Time Fee Grant it will not cover the total cost of your yearly tuition fees. At enrolment or re-enrolment you will need to pay at least the first installment of 50% of your tuition fees (see Tuition Fee Regulations PDF 322KB - Opens in new window) in order to get enrolled.
It is your responsibility to contact Student Finance England to make sure your application is processed and you receive a letter confirming your Fee Grant entitlement.
The final date by which you are required to pay your fees in full is 29th January 2010. Students not eligible for Part Time Fee Grant can pay as Self Funded, Sponsored or Part Self/Part Sponsored students
This section does not apply to full-time Home and EU undergraduates.
Self funding students studying for a whole year (2 semesters) can choose to either pay in full or pay in three instalments. If you pay in full you may be entitled to an early settlement discount. If you pay in instalments, additional credit charges apply.

Early settlement discounts
If you are enrolling for a whole years study and pay in full by the full payment dates set out above you are entitled to a early settlement discount of 5% of your years course fee.
The discount is not applicable if you are in receipt of an LSBU Scholarship, any other LSBU Discount or Bursary or to registration fees.
Credit charges
If you choose to pay by instalments, or if you have not paid your full fee by the due date, you will also need to pay a credit charge in addition to your fee. The credit charges are:
Deposits
Any deposit paid in advance will be treated as part of the 1st instalment of fees. The credit charge will be calculated on your total fee (including any deposit already paid)
If you are sponsored by your employer or another organisation, it is essential that you provide a new letter on enrolment/re-enrolment each year of your course. The letter should confirm the address to which we can send our invoice with a contact name and the amount of the sponsorship. You will remain personally responsible for payment of fees and charges, even if there is an arrangement for the University to receive payment on your behalf from a sponsor or any other third party.
NHS London Strategic Health Authority Contract Students
Some students have their tuition fees paid via a contract that LSBU has with the NHS London Strategic Health Authority (SHA). When you enrol or re-enrol you need to confirm which Primary Care Trust, NHS Trust, (Acute Hospital), Foundation Trust, Mental Health Trust or Ambulance Trust you work for, or will be spending your clinical placement with, as part of the LSBU/NHS London Contract.
The University will validate the information you provide against the contract.You will remain personally responsible for payment of fees and charges, even if there is an arrangement for the University to receive payment on your behalf from Strategic Health Authority.
If your sponsor is only paying part of your fees,your contributions are payable in the same way as those of self funding students. Please also remember to provide your sponsor’s letter. The letter should confirm the address to which we can send our invoice with a contact name and the amount of the sponsorship. You will remain personally responsible for payment of fees and charges, even if there is an arrangement for the University to receive payment on your behalf from a sponsor or any other third party.
