ELQ checker
Home/EU students who already hold a qualification at the same or higher level as they are planning to study at LSBU are generally referred to as Equal or Lower Qualification (ELQ) students. In previous years, ELQ students were charged a higher rate of fee as a result of the removal of government funding for this category.
With the further changes in government funding for 12/13, LSBU will charge any ELQ students (new and continuing) the new Home rate of fee.
Please note: Students who already hold an undergraduate qualification (or the equivalent) studying for an additional undergraduate qualification will generally not be eligible for funding via Student Finance England. However there are some exceptions. Download an information sheet on ELQs from the Gov.uk website.
Our ELQ checker below is designed to give you a provisional indication of the ELQ assessment that applies to you based on the qualifications you already hold.

Please do not type in the award of the course ie BSc, HND, MSc as this will return ALL the courses with the award in the title.
The search is based specifically on the keyword in the course title NOT by related subject areas. For example:
- We have courses with computing and computer in the title. Typing ‘comp’ will return all these courses with either of these words in but will not return all computer related courses such as Business Information Technology or ‘IT’. These would need to be searched by these specific words.
- Typing in ‘business’ will give you courses such as Business Studies and Business Administration. It will not return related courses such as Accounting and Finance. Again, these would need to be searched by these specific words.
