Research funding has been secured from the Economic and Social Research Council ESRC, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), European Union, Civic Trust Regeneration Unit and private firms.
The team has been involved with a number of high profile comparative research, including our work on Shariah compliant real estate investment in conjunction with the international real estate consultants King Sturge. This research focuses on the development of this niche investment market and its potential role in the international real estate investment market. Other recent collaborations have examined emerging global cities in a comparison between Singapore and United Arab Emirates. This was undertaken jointly with the National University of Singapore and University of Sharjah.
Other major highlights from our research include looking at innovations and current practices in large UK quantity surveying firms. This framework was used to gather evidence of innovation among the largest UK quantity surveying firms, to discover the sources of knowledge and information contributing to innovative activity and improve understanding of the process of innovation among this type of firm.
Our post-doctoral research programme examines the social organisation of urban land market, access and use to land and barriers to mortgage services'. Findings fit into and advance the goals of organisations setting the agenda on importance of urban planning and development and poverty reduction programme to meet the provision of basic needs. Thus, this research falls within the agenda of UN and affiliated institutions and complements its priorities related to land ownership, administration and management.
