A team of undergraduate year three architecture students has won first place in the AIA UK Annual Student Design Charette.
The Charette, run by the American Institute of Architects (UK Chapter), is an intense, all day competition where teams of students are asked to produce designs in a long, one day workshop. Students are encouraged to work in a team "representing their school". The Charette is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Taking place on 24 October 2009, the theme this year was "individual in a crowd" for a series of sites near Centre Point, London. The ESBE team competed against students from other schools of architecture throughout the country including the AA, Cambridge and Kingston and were awarded first place in the Charette. The students really enjoyed the experience and are preparing an article about it for publication.
