Year 2008
Launched at the Ideal Home Show, Footlume is a rug that lights up when stepped on. Footlume has won the Carbonate Innovation Competition and Future Concept of the Year Ideal Home Show. To promote Footlume and other innovative products, Zoe and Leona setup a company, ZoLo Designs, under LSBU's Enterprise Associate Scheme.

Ashley Kelly has picked up the Ideal Home Show's Concept Product Award 2009 for her AllSocket invention. The AllSocket Power Track system integrates electrical wiring into a skirting board or similar wall panel giving you access to power wherever it's required. AllPlugs replace conventional electrical plugs and simply slot into the distribution system anywhere around the perimeter of the room.
LSBU played a key role in creating this wonder flipflop that makes exercising more effective. On its release it made a huge impact on the body conscious public, with highlights including being a sell-out at Selfridges and featuring on the Oprah Winfrey show in America.
A team of students from the department of Electrical, Computer and Communications Engineering won the Industrial Robot Innovative Climbing Award and the BAE Systems second prize for developing a robot that can climb walls. The robot needed to climb a steel wall from its start position on the floor.
