Get involved

Coming to university offers far more than just study. Taking part in all aspects of university life can give you a truly rewarding student experience.

Active lifestyle

If you're interested in socialising, keeping fit or playing sports at both competitive and recreational levels we have a wide range of events, clubs and groups you can join. Find out more about LSBU's sports clubs at the Students' Union and at the Academy of Sports. There are also a number of ways you can represent student matters including standing as a Course Representative, attending annual Student Forums presented by the University's senior managers and standing or voting in our Sabbatical Officer Elections.

Being career focussed

Whilst studying you may also think of taking part-time work. Although there are many opportunities available across the city the university also offers a range of interesting employment.

We regularly seek students to be Student Employees. They carry out a number of responsibilities including taking prospective students on campus tours, helping college students with their project work or befriending local pupils who are in care. The positions can fit around your studies and offer you the chance to develop a range of key skills that are great for your personal development.

Another worthwhile opportunity is our Student Associate Scheme. This national, government-backed initiative gives students the opportunity to gain classroom experience whilst studying. It responds to the current shortage of trainee teachers in maths, physics, chemistry, modern languages, ICT, design and technology, religious education and music. Students spend 15 days in a local school, shadowing a teacher and working with pupils. A great addition to your CV.

At LSBU we actively encourage students to develop their business ideas, skills, knowledge and expertise. Read more about business development at LSBU.
