First Aid at Work Requalification Training - Level 3
Overview
These Highfields accredited first aid courses are designed to give you the skills, knowledge and competence required to administer emergency first aid in the workplace. This includes being able to assess, diagnose and treat casualties before the arrival of medical staff in the event of an emergeny.
Courses are delivered by our experienced tutors, who are practical and hands-on in their approach. Training will take pace in our Academy of Sport, which has recently undergone £1 million of investment.
Highfields is one of the UK's leading awarding bodies in compliance qualifications, so these courses are ideal if you work in a fitness or health related industry.
First Aid training should be risk-specific so please contact us if you would like to discuss a training package based on your specific requirements.
Course content includes:
In addition to the topics covered on an emergency first aid at work course, on completion of training, you will be able to:
a) administer first aid to a casualty with:
- injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
- chest injuries
- eye injuries
- sudden poisoning
- anaphylactic shock
b) recognise the presence of major illnesses and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
Qualification
First aid at work certificate; valid for three years. For best practice we support the HSE recommendation to complete an annual update of your first aid skills.

Entry requirements
Our courses are renowned for providing a quality learning experience offering hands-on practical training skills that leave first aiders feeling confident to use their skills in a real life situation. It is therefore important that participants are physically able to perform the relevant actions and techniques included in the HSE syllabus.
How to apply
To book your place on the course, download and complete the booking form and return by email to coachingcourses@lsbu.ac.uk.
Applications will be accepted on a first come first served basis, your place will only be confirmed on receipt of full payment and completion of the application form.
Once you have returned the booking form, you can pay by card at our online store or come into the LSBU Sports Centre to pay in person.Courses run over two days (9:30am-4:30pm)
