Support Programme 2011-12: Caxton House
Courses for all students

What is it?

The Skills Unit as part of the Centre for Learning Support & Development was set up for the benefit of all London South Bank University students, and offers mathematics and statistics sessions, as part of a programme which aims to provide all your support needs through university and beyond. We also offer English courses and a study skills programme please see the separate timetables available from Caxton House.

Where is it?

The Skills Unit is based in Caxton House on Borough Road, just opposite the Learning Resources Centre another part of the Centre for Learning Support & Development. All sessions are free. All maths classes are held in room 14B on the first floor Caxton House, sessions run from September 2011 till June 2012.

A separate programme for the Havering campus is also offered. (See separate programme also available from our website or reception at Havering campus.)

For summer courses please see the separate Fast Track flyer or enquire from the Skills Unit maths tutors. (The Fast Track programme is available to any London South Bank University student who needs to improve their skills. In addition to taught classes, the programme also offers drop-in workshops in the afternoon.)

Teaching Hours

  • Monday - Friday, 12:00pm - 15:00pm with extras on Thursdays 15:30pm - 17:30pm

What is covered?

Type of sessions

  • One-to-one Individual advice on mathematical/statistical problems for any student. These must be booked prior to attendance please ring 020 7815 6409. Appointments can be booked up to one week in advance and are 20 minutes in duration. Please ensure you arrive in time for the start of your booking.
  • Topic workshops Group workshops. No need to book these.
  • Drop in workshop Drop in help for maths, no set topic, and no need to book.
  • Nursing topic sessions Mathematics used in nursing maths calculations
  • Drop in nursing sessions Drop in for help with your nursing numeracy test or any other nursing calculation.

Students with disabilities are advised to specify their requirements, if any, when booking individual appointments or when attending workshops as not all rooms have induction loops, wheelchair access etc.
