The 5 steps to Disability and Dyslexia Support at LSBU

Step 1

You have:

  • declared a disability on your UCAS Application form; OR
  • been screened for dyslexia.

Step 2

You have:

  • given evidence of disability/dyslexia to DDS; OR
  • have result of dyslexia assessment.

Step 3

You have:

  • agreed support arrangements e.g. extra time in exams, extension of book loans in the library;
  • agreed your faculty can be informed;
  • been told about Disabled Students Allowances (DSA) if eligible.

Step 4

You are:

  • applying for DSA.

Step 5

You have:

  • received a letter from your funding authority (SFE/NHS) DSA confirming you can have DSA;
  • booked and attended Needs Assessment interview and received the (full) Report;
  • received final letter from your funder confirming that you have DSA;
  • started to receive support e.g. mentoring or dyslexia tuition;
  • ordered and received equipment.
