Services for Academic Staff

We are here to support you in the work that you do in helping prepare our students for their life after graduation. We do this in four main ways:

  • With your help, by talking to groups of students while they are studying here at LSBU.
  • By helping you in embedding career management skills into the curriculum
  • By providing help and support to placement tutors
  • By individual referral

Talks to students

We are happy to come and talk to your students as a group either for a brief 10 – 15 minute slot at the start of a lecture or for a longer time. We are particularly keen to see final year students during the autumn semester as we are keen to ensure that these students do not miss out on those graduate recruiters who still operate deadlines for applications in the autumn. We are also happy to see second year groups as part of their placement preparation. Subjects for talks include;

  • An introduction to Employability & Careers Service and the help it provides
  • An introduction to the LSBU JobShop
  • How to find a placement
  • Job seeking strategies/vacancy sources
  • Options on graduation
  • Marketing yourself on paper (cv’s, application forms)
  • Interview techniques
  • Psychometric testing

Many of the above can be delivered as part of Personal Development Planning. (PDP)

To arrange a talk simply contact one of our Careers Adviser at Technopark, or Ring: 020 7815 6710
