Eleanor Pitt, BSc Therapeutic Radiography, joined through Clearing
A last-minute change of mind following summer work experience left Eleanor with only one way to study at university – apply via Clearing
Eleanor came to LSBU after going on Therapeutic Radiography work experience, where she realised her initial first choice course wasn't for her. "It made me see that I preferred Therapeutic Radiography to Diagnostic Radiography, which was the course I originally applied for at another university, so I decided to re-apply through Clearing."
She was drawn to the course due to her combined love of biology and physics and has enjoyed that the course is very patient-involved, so there was time to build a rapport while out on placement.
Change your mind through Clearing
"My personal experience of Clearing was really positive. I was invited to attend an interview the same night I submitted my application – which I didn't hesitate to accept!"
Eleanor has just completed her second year of Therapeutic Radiography here. Before, she was studying to complete her A-levels in Gloucestershire, mainly science-focused subjects such as biology, chemistry and physics.
Life in London
Aside from the course structure and her career prospects, studying at LSBU has also enabled Eleanor to experience life in London. Not only does our University have partnerships with many leading hospitals, its central location means it's in the heart of everything.
"I've really enjoyed both the social and academic side of university life. I'm achieving good grades and always strive to improve, aiming for a first-class degree when I graduate in 2016." When she isn't studying, Eleanor takes part in sports and she's a member of the women's basketball team at LSBU.
Take the Clearing choice
Eleanor has no regrets about reconsidering her first choice. "I had no perception of Clearing prior to applying via the process. I am the first in my immediate family to attend university and found it an easy but slightly stressful process, however the LSBU team kept me up-to-date the whole time.
"I'd advise anyone applying through Clearing this summer not to stress. Stay calm so you're able to sell yourself in the best possible way to the University."
