Assessment

The assessment will be on the basis of 60% practical write-up and 40% in-class Tests. There are five practical reports with one counting double; the best five out of these six will count. The in-class Tests will be based on topics given the week before such that you can prepare for them. The best three out of the four will count. An overall mark of 40% is required to pass the unit, with not less than 30% in either the tests or the practical write-ups. Complete attendance, at all lectures, tutorials, in-class tests and practical sessions, is important to pass this unit. Attendance below 100% in Practicals, Lecture/Tutorials or in-class Tests will result in an equal reduction in the maximum mark obtainable. It follows that a lower attendance than 40% in Practicals, Lecture/Tutorials or in-class Tests will result in Automatic Fail of the unit. The lowest of the three percentages for attendance at Practicals, Lecture/Tutorials or in-class Tests will be taken as the maximum mark attainable.
