Accreditation and recognition

Our Department has a good public profile in a number of areas. We have strong international research links with Africa, EU and Asia. We participate on many journal editorial boards, review papers and research funding applications for outside agencies. Our work also sees us being asked to give our expert opinion by the media and give papers at conferences and producing a range of publications. Two of our publications are: The International Journal of Contemporary Politics and International Journal of Social Research Methodology, Theory and Practise.

Awards

The department also gained a ‘Landmark Award’ from the London Metropolitan Archives, the Rukus Federation for the documentary ‘In this Our Lives – The reunion’ which featured in 2009 in the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.

Guest speakers

We collaborate via our high profile guest lecture series for students. Past guest lecturers have been Diane Abbott, Gary Younge, Harriet Harman and Paul Gilroy. These activities enable us to expand the range and depth of employer and professional engagement within our course programmes.
