Having a qualifying law degree is a prerequisite for the vocational study stage if you want to qualify as a barrister or solicitor. The majority of our degrees meet criteria set down by the Bar Standards Board and Solicitors Regulation Authority. Holding a selection of our courses also gives students partial exemptions from existing professional requirements.
Our courses are based against our well-developed set of academic and professional skills. We take the future employability of our students very seriously, developing a distinct portfolio of cross-disciplinary and vocationally-oriented courses in civil and criminal law.
Our final year LL.B. students have the option to take our Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) modules. They're taught mediation skills and the principles and ethics of mediation. Students are able to join the College of Mediators as student members as soon as they commence studying ADR. Our final year students also have the opportunity to take the Ciminal Litigation and Civil Litigation options, successful completion of which enables them to become members of the Institute of legal Executives. This provides our students with an alternativew route to the Legal Profession.
We are very proud that we attract an impressive panel of visiting professors and lecturers who help us design and deliver our courses. We are embedded in our local community, having established strong links with local schools and colleges and the local and national legal profession. We offer CPD courses for local practitioners and work closely with the London Law Society and the British East West Centre.
