Facilities

Whatever our students' interests we have the facilities to take their ideas further. Our theatre's contemporary performance space offers the features you'd find in a professional auditorium.

Edric Hall Theatre

Our Edric Hall was first built as a concert hall over 100 years ago and featured a fine performance organ. After careful conversion, including rehousing the organ, it has been reborn as the university's contemporary performance space and theatre.

A purpose built space

For rehearsals and performances

It features a main auditorium with a large performance area, seating for 60 people, as well as a smaller performance and rehearsal studio. There is also a smaller space set aside for seminars and more intimate teaching needs. All spaces are fitted with AV teaching resources and projectors. The auditorium and studio feature lighting and sound equipment to be used in performances.

Investment in new facilities

Studio 3 and 4 are our brand new rehearsal rooms, which provide our students with a configurable space for creating and rehearsing performance pieces. Each studio comes equipped with a fully sprung floor, ballet barres, mirrors, audio system, and projection facilities. In addition to the studios we now also have a brand new Theatre Workshop for making props and set, and a Wardrobe room with our costume store and facilities for making and altering costumes.

Keyworth Media Centre

Our purpose-built teaching and digital arts and media production facilities are based in the Keyworth Media Centre; an innovative hub at the core of our Southwark campus. Through a successful funding bid our Digital Media Laboratory has recently been upgraded. The high standard of our facilities has since been recognised and we are now accredited as an Apple Training Centre.
