Courses

We continually develop our course portfolio to stay ahead of the market and meet the changing creative and cultural needs of the 21st century. Some of our courses focus on creative practical work and vocational training. Others look closely at contextual issues, theory, criticism, contemporary ideas and debates. Many courses offer project work and placements and some combine practice-based modules with theory.

You could be involved in writing short film scripts, devising a performance with a leading contemporary company, working on studies of ethnicity and race, critically analysing recent television phenomena such as Celebrity Big Brother, getting to grips with postmodernism intellectual arguments or producing a news item for our literary magazine The South Bank Review.

The department has excellent links and partnerships with regional, national and international arts, media and cultural industries, such as ArtsAdmin, BFI, Donmar Warehouse, Media Trust, National Theatre, Sadler's Wells and Tate. We also collaborate with innovative commercial media providers such as Key20.

Our students also benefit from seeing their work showcased across the capital.
