I was looking for a course that would challenge me and further my knowledge, experience and skills. Social and Policy Studies (SPS) at LSBU has given me the opportunity to do this.

‘The funny farm’, ‘the mad house’, ‘the loony bin’, ‘a cloud-cuckoo land’, somewhere ‘away with the fairies’ - I have heard mental health care centres called all sorts of things. But somehow, none of them really seem to fit, as I discovered when on a work placement arranged by the department of psychology, here at London South Bank University. In fact, I found something very different.

One of the strengths of the course was an opportunity to go on a field visit to Barcelona where I learnt an awful lot about the planning system in Spain.

I was able to go on straight into directing a charity...and...coming here through the Elite Sports Programme, I was able to continue to train at a very high level.
