LSBU does not have any accommodation on campus at Havering. Instead, students have the opportunity to stay in university-checked, purpose-built accommodation located in Romford, Essex at the Swan Housing Association’s Union Road development.
The range of accommodation available at this new site covers standard bedrooms with shared bathrooms; bedrooms with en-suite facilities and studio flats. Standard and en-suite bedrooms are grouped into cluster flats accommodating 2 to 4 residents. Each cluster flat has a fully-equipped kitchen/dining area with a washing machine, dishwasher and TV/DVD.
The site is approximately a 15-minute walk from Romford main-line station. Limited car parking is offered, subject to availability, and there are storage facilities for bicycles. The on-site office and reception area is staffed by the Swan Housing team between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. They handle the development’s general management and a contracted security service is provided outside these hours to deal with emergencies.
Rents currently range from £420.95 per calendar month (pcm) for a standard bedroom; £461.67 pcm for en-suite; and £678.86 pcm for a studio. However, we advise you double check these figures with Swan Housing as they can vary depending on the number of bedrooms in a flat as well as any special offers that may be available. Rents include all utilities ie electricity and gas. You will be required to pay a deposit to secure the accommodation and rent can only be paid by direct debit.
