Security and Reception Services

As one of the University's professional support departments we have responsibility to provide a safe and secure environment at LSBU to support the well being of students, staff and visitors.

What to do in an emergency

If you see or suspect fire or serious injury contact the emergency services on 999. You can call from any telephone on the University campus but remember you'll need to dial 9 first for an outside line. You'll be asked to provide your name, telephone number, location, the nature of the incident and the help that you need.To find building addresses visit our Campus map webpage.

In all emergencies, and to call the police, also contact the University Security Control Room on ext. 6666 or 020 7815 6666 from a mobile.

Information for visitors/ children

Visitors

Visitors to LSBU Southwark campus are required to register at reception and should carry their visitor passes with them while on campus. To ensure quicker registration and access, pre notification of visitors is required for all LSBU Southwark campus buildings. This enables the reception team to provide an enhanced service to your visitors while avoiding delays to other visitors. Please email all visitor pre notifications to the appropriate building reception desks.

Children

Children and young persons under 18 years of age can have access to University premises by specific authority set out in the Authorised Child/Young Persons Entry Card form. Please note that children/young persons, even though accompanied by an adult, may not have access to all areas of the University premises. Refer to terms and conditions on the form for more details.

Lost and found property

To minimise personal loss and reduce security risks to our estate and buildings, the University has guidelines for all lost and found property.

Found something? - If you find property on University premises with no apparent owner nearby, first ask colleagues or at the department office to establish if anyone has reported the item missing. If not, please hand in the property at the building's reception or at the Security Office (BR168 Borough Road Building) as soon as possible. Reception or security staff will then log the item in the lost property register. They will need to know where and when it was found and your name and department.

Lost something? - If you are trying to trace something you have lost on University premises, first ask at the building(s) you were in. If you cannot find it there, ask at the Security Office (BR168 Borough Road Building). It may take a few days for an item to be handed in, so check again a week later.
